Thinking Activity :- on Movie screening of Kya khena and The novel sacarlate Letters

=>  In movie priya is main protagonist and in the novel Hester is protagonist.


(2) write their story in brief.
=> Movie kaya kehna :-
          In  the movie priya is main and central chracter. She is brave girl. In school time when one professor hurts his best friend then priya slaps him in front of people. She takes her friends revenge with him. So she is courageous. In the movie priya is falls in love with Rahul. And then priya becomes pregnant and then when her truth came in front of her family. Her family does not gives support to her. And she becomes alone. Nobody gives support to her. His family also angry on her. And she becomes helpless. Rahul also disagree to marry with her. And then her family realised their mistake and they gives support to her. And then she get courage to face the society. And at the end of the movie Rahul realised his mistake and proposes priya to marry with him. But then priya refuses to marry him. Ajay is priya's best friend. Because her best friend who also gives support in every situation, he stands with her. And he also wants to marry with her. And then finally priya decides to marry with Ajay. At the end of the movie all conflicts solved and happy ending is their in the movie.

=> In the novel sacarlate Letters :-

              In the novel Hester is main character. Whole story is around her. She is married. And she lives alone. And then she falls in love with Arthur Dimmasdale. And he also falls in love with her. And then Hester becomes pregnant. And then society knows her truth. And then she is completely alone. She has no support of anyone. She becomes lonely. Her lover also does not gives support to her. And because of this reason she goes in prison. In this situation both are equally responsible but only Hester goes in the jail. That situation creates questiona in our mind. Then at the end of the novel Dimmasdale realised his mistake and he revels his truth. And then he get courage to speak his truth. And then he confess his truth. He accepts his mistake. And he saves her. And then they goes on another place at the end of the movie.

(3) what is the role played society in Hester and priya's life.

=> In the movie society does not accept her. And society humiliates priya with their behaviour. And they only blaims on her. But Rahul becomes innocent in front of society. Nobody humiliates Rahul. Nobody blaims on him. Only priya is responsible, people treats her like that. So In the movie society does not gives support to her. But society also not raises a question in front of Rahul. Because he belongs to rich class. That's why power in his hand. That's society only misbehaves with priya. Becuse she belongs to middle class family.

=> In the novel same situation is there. Only Hester becomes the responsible in front of society. Nobody cares her. She faces the society. She does not looses her strength. But she has a courage to face the society. Dimmasdale also responsible for this condition. But he does not accepts his truth. Becuse he has a fear of society that's why he feels fear of society that's why he does not accept his truth. In this situation Hester suffers alot. She goes in the jail.

(4) Compare and contrast the male characters, Roger Chillingworth, Arthur Dimmesdale, Rahul, and Ajay.

=> Roger chillinworth is Hester 's husband and he is not lived with her. She lived alone. She has no family members. And Dimmesdale also love Hester. Both loves each other. In the movie Rahul does not want to marry with her. And here im the novel Dimmesdale does not able to accepts his mistake because he has a fear of society that's he is not able to accept his mistake in front of society. Both are Dimmesdale and Rahul both are also responsible but only priya and Hester suffers and also humiliates by society in the novel and in the movie.

Compare and contrast ‘The scaffold scene in The Scarlet Letter’ and ‘a year-end performance in Kya Kehna in which a group of students performs a play on Priya and her pregnancy’.

=> In the novel in "Tge scaffold scene" Dimmasdale confess his truth that he is also responsible. And he saves her in front of society but he accept his truth. And In the movie priya stands and does not blame on Rahul. But she gives a speech that without
Marriage she becomes a pregnant, she does not do any crime. And she gives long speech. And people also realised their mistake. And then she is able to prove herself right in front of society.

What are the reasons that Arthur Dimmesdale and Rahul do not come forward to accept their fatherhood? How do you they differ and what are the similarities?

=>  In movie Rahul is don't want marry anyone. And then he knows that priya is pragnant. He does not accept his mistake. And also not ready gives her support. In the novel Dimmasdale has a fear of society that's why he does not confess his truth in front of society.

What is the role played by Chillingworth in Hester’s life? Why do you think he wanted to take revenge on Hester and Dimmesdale?

=> He is Hester 's husband that's why he tknows the relationship between Hester and Dimmasdale. He is not happy. And he also knows about Hester' s pragrancy. And then that's why he wanted to take a revenge with both of them.

What is the role played by Rahul’s mother in Priya’s life? Why do you think she wants to take revenge on Priya?

=> Rahul's family belongs to rich class. That's why his mother insults priya. And also once priya's brother fights with Rahul. That's why Rahul's mother is angry. And she wants takes revenge with him. That's she send police to arrest him. And she also insults priya.

Write a note on class difference in Kya Kehna.
 => In the movie class difference is there. Priya belongs to middle class family and Rahul belongs to Rich class. That's why in the movie priya suffers alot. In comparison of her Rahul does not suffer. And also society also blame on her not him. So class difference becomes the one issue in the movie.

Why do you think the director has lifted the character of Ajay to the ideal state? Is it possible in real life? What are the reasons of your YES or NO?

 => Yes, In real life also some characters are there like Ajay's character. But it shows in rare case. Maybe director wants to gives Happy ending that's why he lifted the chracter like Ajay.

How do you see Hester and Priya as individuals?

=>  When we see both chracter. We find that Priya suffers in her life. But she has a support of family. But Hester is alone. She has no family. And she loves Dimmsdale. But he also does not gives support to her. So in comparison of priya 's character Hester' s chracter suffers alot.

Write a critical note on the end of the movie and the novel. Why do you think the novelist has not given happy ending?

=> In the movie Happy ending is there. She got a right partner in her life. And society also accepts her. But in real situation is becomes more difficult. Society raises a many questions. So it becomes difficult to face the society. But priya and Hester has a strength to face the society and they does not loses their strength. So In the novel at the end, novelist does not give Happy Ending becuse the another journey is starts
. And some conflicts also their that's why Happy ending is not there.
