Thinking Activity :- One night @ the call center

Thinking Activity :- One night @ the call center

1. Menippean satire, seriocomic genre, chiefly in ancient Greek literature and Latin literature, in which contemporary institutions, conventions, and ideas were criticized in a mocking satiric style that mingled prose and verse. (Manippean Satire). Can you justify on@tcc as Menippean satire?
=> In one night @ the Call Centre, all chracters belongs to rich family. They suffers, because their boss Bakshi. They woks at night. It becomes difficult to works at night. Through the chracters writer satires, on chracters like Bakshi, who mentally tortures them. So all chracters have their personal problems, and In call centre they also suffers mentally. Some have family problems also their. Through the chracters writers satires on work culture. One side is beneficial but another side is painful. Through the chracters writers focus on the work culture and society, and family culture. Chetan Bhagat focuses on the problems of youth. But in his book all chracters belongs to rich class.

2. Bhagat has an insight for the contemporary issues that are movers and shakers in India. See the below give table. You will find all his novels listed with the key contemporary issue portrayed with his imaginative stockade in the fiction, respectively. Share your observations on the important issues of the time and its delineation in Chetan Bhagat’s fictional oeuvre.
=>

His books based youth and contemporary issues of youth. That's why he is popular writer. Becuse in his book, his story connects with youth. In his all book main narrator's name like god. Example :- Shyam, Gopal, Hari, Madhav etc. Through this maybe the concept of God is changing. They also suffers, maybe this concept there in the book. In this modern time they all chracters suffers. And that's why through this naming the concept of God is changing. In all his book, main narrator, suffers in different situations, and he also got the solutions.

3. Had  Bhagat’s vision been shallow, he wouldn’t have been able to see “call-centers as soul-destroying sweatshop, soaking up the energies of young Indians who could be doing better for themselves and their country”.(Bhagat). Do you feel that Chetan Bhagat with this observation has captured the skeleton image of the undercurrents in the society?
=> He focuses on the problems of the yoyth. But in this book all chracters have different problems they suffers because of their boss bakshi , and all chracters have their family issues also. He does not focus on poor class people, how they suffer in their life, how they lives. For them there is no time to think about the another problems. They suffer but they does not raise their voice, in some cases they raise their voice. But most of time people suffers alot, but they does not raise their voice. They have no time to thinks about any problems their primary problem is food, clothes, and shelter. But in his book all churacters are rich, and they have no problem of primary needs. But they have other problems, like job issue, and family problem. So in another way Chetan Bhagat 's book focuses on shallow level. But when we see through another vision, he goes deep, to solve the problem of Youth. In this book rationality is there.

4. Other issues that surfaced while discussion in the classroom – Bossism (authority), satire on people’s mindset that God only can solve problem, satire on work-culture (i.e. love your work but never your company, you never know when your company stops loving you), ‘loyalty’, marriage institution, family values (Priyanka: “I want my mother to be happy. But I cannot kill myself for it. My mother needs to realize . . . she is responsible for her own happiness.” Radhika: “I want to divorce Anuj. I don’t want to ever look at my mother-in-law’s face again.” (Bhagat)).
=> In this novel Mr. Bakshi is boss. And he orders and rules on Employees. And he is very bad boss. He does not understands the problem of employees. And he praises America. All characters works hard. Even all have  their personal problem. But they tries to focus on their work. And in office also they faces problem.

5. The literature is not just telling stories in chronological order. It is the ‘how’ part of the story-telling which matters most. Chetan Bhagat makes interesting use of prologue and epilogue in this novel. The Aristotelian unities of time, place and action are also taken care of in plot construction. The justification of dues ex machine is also given with the possible alternative reading of the novel without God. Discuss with reference to the narrative structure of Life of Pi (Martel), the merits and demerits of the narrative structure of on@tcc.
=> In the text gives both the interpretation. So it gives space to both the narrative.one is a phone call from God. And other is this a voice of Military Uncle. so this this modern technique of writing. And in the book time, place and action is there. writer mentions time, place and action in the book.
